Jamie Myers

Research and Learning Manager

Jamie has been at IDS for five years specialising in research and learning that supports the strengthening of sanitation and hygiene practice and policy. His background is cross-disciplinary with a MSc in Environment and Sustainability Science and a BA in History.

Naomi Vernon

Programme and Communications Manager

Naomi is the Programme and Communications Manager for the SLH at the Institute of Development Studies. She is the lead editor and designer of SLH publications, and co-edited the book ‘Sustainable Sanitation for All: Innovations and Insights’.

Robert Chambers

Associate Research Fellow

Robert is a nomad in search of blind spots and participatory methodologies. He has been based in IDS since 1969 and a research associate since retiring in 1997. Among his books is 'Rural Development: Putting the Last First' (1993).

Ruhil Iyer

Research Officer

Ruhil is a Research Officer at the Sanitation Learning Hub, working towards participatory research and action learning in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector. Ruhil’s academic background is in social science and development related research.

Mimi Coultas

Research Officer

Mimi is a Research Officer with the Hub, working on timely, relevant and actionable learning activities in the sanitation and hygiene sector. She previously worked for a number of NGOs designing and implementing WASH programmes across Africa and Asia.

Stacey Townsend

Programme Officer

Stacey is the Programme Officer for the Sanitation Learning Hub. Prior to her work with the Hub and during her time at IDS she has worked on a wide arrange of projects and programmes over a period of over 10 years.

Alice Webb

Communications and Impact Officer

Alice is a communications and knowledge professional, working part-time with the Sanitation Learning Hub, alongside projects focused on health and epidemics, conflict, migration, and participation. Alice’s academic background is in literature and languages (Spanish and Portuguese).

Elaine Mercer

Communications and Networking Officer

Elaine manages the SLH website, newsletter and social media channels, facilitates learning and sharing activities, creates engaging video and written outputs, and leads on visual methods research.

Nanpet Chuktu

Sanitation Learning Hub

Nanpet’s team, using demand-led initiatives and innovations in sanitation, achieved Nigeria’s first ODF Local Government in 2016. They have since produced three more local government areas, demonstrating how sanitation models can be taken to scale to reach whole geographic regions. He is the SLH In-country Focal Person for Nigeria, on a part-time basis.

VR Raman

Indian public health and development expert

VR Raman has over three decades of work on equity, inclusion and human rights. He has unique associations with various missions of Government of India including the Swachh Bharat Mission on universal sanitation. He has rich research experience and works with several WASH, health and environmental organisations. He also teaches. He is the SLH In-country Focal Person for India, on a part-time basis.
