Proven, simple interventions exist to prevent undernutrition and diarrhea, even in settings that are challenged by poor sanitation, lack of hygiene, and unsafe drinking water… through smart, targeted joint action on WASH [water, sanitation and hygiene] and nutrition, millions of deaths can be prevented.
This guidebook produced by Action Against Hunger emphasises integrating sanitation and hygiene (S&H) and nutrition programmes in humanitarian emergencies. This is because safe drinking water and sanitation, as well as food and shelter, are vital to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of communities affected by crisis.
The guidebook also includes a resources section, which offers tools and examples on how to integrate S&H and nutrition at each stage of the project cycle.
