A Sanitation Journey: Principles, Approaches and Tools for Urban Sanitation

Aimed at those within and outside the sanitation sector, this publication presents an overview of the current status of the sector as well as its future directions, focussing on principles, approaches and tools for urban sanitation. It gives a general overview of the development of urban sanitation over past decades and reflects on the evolutions from a South Asian and Sub-Saharan perspective.  The authors present the approaches and implementation tools needed to achieve progress in urban sanitation and hygiene.

Discussing the shift from technocratic to bottom-up adaptive processes, this publication provides an historical perspective on the evolution of urban sanitation.  Part II provides an overview of urban sanitation tools and methods.
